Most motorway sections are or will be financed through credit arrangements with international financial institutions, and thus JP Autoceste FBiH is obliged, in addition to national laws, to respect the rules and standards of international financial institutions guided by EU policy goals and their principles of sustainable development, public involvement and responsibilities.

The implementation of these objectives and principles is carried out and monitored through the tools prescribed in the EBRD’s Environmental and Social Policy (2019) and the EIB’s Environmental and Social Standards (2018), whose objectives are unique: to promote sustainable and inclusive growth while preserving the natural and social environment through an interdisciplinary approach.

To this end, a set of documents for each project intended to be financed by the IFI EIB and EBRD shall be prepared and disclosed in public. The set of documents to be publicly disclosed contains the following:

  • Environmental Impact Assessment – EIA,
  • Non-Technical Summary – NTS,
  • Biodiversity Management Plan – BMP,
  • Stakeholder Engagement Plan – SEP,
  • Environmental and Social Action Plan – ESAP and/or
  • Environmental and Social Management Plan – ESMP and
  • Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plan – LARP
